“When we met Phil when my son, Jonathan, was in 5th grade. Phil gave my son what he needed, a quiet space in his home to listen and become interested in the subjects of History and English without the pressures and quick pace of a large classroom. This gave Jonathan a safe space to hear new information and ask questions. Phil would bring visual aids and books that helped my son learn and understand the information. Phil made such a huge impact on Jonathan’s confidence and understanding of the subjects, his grades got better. Eventually, trust and friendship were formed with them, which expanded my son’s curiosity to discover photography. Today, Jonathan is a graduate from School of Visual Arts in New York with a major in Photography. We both are grateful for Phil’s knowledgeable support over the years, caring input, and his guidance through the confusing educational system of LAUSD. We considered Phil a dear friend and valuable tutor throughout those years, but today he is “family”. For me as a single parent, Phil is the person who helped me navigate options that were in Jonathan's best interest. When you see your child's personal growth and self esteem increase, there's a sense of peace that you've given your child what they needed to achieve and help find their way."
